Tenmoku Mug

This small mug was thrown on the wheel and fired to 2300 degrees in my old gas kiln.  I used my thumb to add a scalloped edge to the foot after trimming. The dark iron rich clay body and high iron glaze combined to form a deep black tenmoku that breaks to a light brown/persimmon around the rim.
