Swirling Oval Platter

I made this platter out of a slab draped over a homemade mold and then added a foot on the wheel. It was fired to 2300 degrees in my wood kiln. I created a swiling pattern by combing through the flashing slip with my fingers while it was wet. This platter turned a beautiful rich metallic brown with flashes of orange thanks to salt in the atmosphere.
